NREGS fails in Mizoram: ZNP
Aizawl, Feb 08 (UNI) The Opposition Zoram Nationalist Party today alleged that many households in different villages of Mizoram got only 20 to 30 days of employment last year under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The UPA governments NREGS, guaranteed 100 days of employment to all the poor across the country.
ZNP general secretary J M Vura said that many households in villages under Champhai district and elsewhere have disclosed that they got only 30 days of employment during 2007.
Mr Vura also alleged that the Centre had sanctioned more than Rs 49 crores under the NREGS but the state received a meagre Rs 3.72 crores and demanded the state government to sanction the required amount.
Meanwhile, he also alleged that some village councils, who are the implementing agencies, made additional job cards crossing the actual number of households and some councils refusing to issue job cards.
