Nominations of 331 candidates valid
Agartala, Feb 08 (UNI) The Tripura election officials today said that nominations of 331 of 365 candidates from 13 parties were found valid for the February 23 Assembly polls.
However, the nomination of Congress candidate Md Abdul Matin of Kurti constituency in North Tripura was rejected during the final scrutiny yesterday, officials informed.
''The returning officers and observers have found the nomination of 34 candidates invalid and most of them were Independent,'' the officials said adding that the withdrawal of nominations would be on February nine.
Altogether 365 candidates of 13 different political parties and Independent had submitted 857 nominations between January 31 and February six while as many as 65 candidates each from ruling Left Front and opposition Congress had filed nomination.
The Election Commission has asked the state poll panel to provide symbol to six parties - CPI (ML), AIFB, LJP, RSP, JD (U), and AITMC.
