National painting competition by UNFPA

Hyderabad, Feb 8 (UNI) As many as 450 final year students of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from selected colleges in the country would contest for Art for Social Change awards, the first national painting competition, organised by the United Nations Population Fund-India (UNFPA).

Addressing a press conference here today, Centre for Media Studies, Hyderabad Director R V Krishna Rao said the theme of the nationwide competition was 'delighting in daughters'. Talented art students would highlight the positive image of a girl child through their paintings, he added.

All the students should submit their paintings for selection on February 29. The name of the winners would be announced in April this year and would be felicitated at an award ceremony in Delhi.

First prize would carry a cash award of Rs 50,000 while second prize would carry Rs 30,000 and third prize Rs 20,000. There would be 50 consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each.
