Indo Tech opens transformer plant in TN

Chennai, Feb 8: Indo Tech Transformers Limited today commissioned a plant to manufacture 220 and 400 KV Class power transformers at Illuppapattu Village of Kancheepuram District of Tamil Nadu.

Located on 30-acre plot with a built-up area of 1.10 lakh sq ft at an estimated cost of Rs 65 crores, the plant has epoxy flooring to maintain dust-free atmosphere, a company rlease here said. It has an installed capacity of 4000 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) per annum with a state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing up to 315 MVA 420 KV Class Transformers.

With the inauguration, Indo Tech Transformers Limited's total installed capacity has gone upto 7450 MVA.

The plant was equipped with modern machinery and equipment such as Vapour phase drying unit, Process equipment, Autoclaves and Winding Machines.

The Vapour Phase Drying Facility by MICAFIL, to dry the core coil assembly using kerosene vapour shortens drastically the time for drying.

Vapour phase drying is much more effective than conventional drying. The Isostatic press ensures effective clamping of coils during the process.

The winding shop is pressurised to keep it totally dust-free. The plant has the necessary equipment to conduct Partial Discharge Test.

It also has a Vertical Winding Machine for high capacity coils.

A 2000 KV Lightning Impulse Generator is being imported from Haefely, Switzerland for conducting Impulse Tests.

The plant would provide direct employment to more than 200 people and indirect employment to more than 400 people and cater to the needs of State Electricity Boards, Corporate and Industrial Customers and Contractors in addition to exports comprising large power transformers.
