Himachal to search for funding possibilities

Shimla, Feb 8 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Environment and Forest Minister JP Nadda today said the government would make attempts to explore possibilities to bag fund from international donor agencies.

Presiding over a meeting of the officers of Environment and Science Technologies here Mr Nadda said, government is mulling to forward a proposal to avail funds for urban sewage treatment solid waste and bio-medical waste management in a scientific and environmentally sound manner.

Expressing concern over the haphazard disposal of construction debris especially in Shimla, the Minister said the Departments must put their concerted and coordinated efforts to prevent degradation of forests and environment.

''Inter-departmental meeting on these issues would be soon convened at the Government-level to resolve the problems and achieve the desired results, and there is need of exercising regular checks under the relevant regulations,'' he added.

Mr Nadda further said polluters would be held accountable for their actions.
