Electricity generation at NJPC surpasses 6000 MUs
Shimla, Feb 8 (UNI) The country's largest Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station has become the first single hydro power station of the country to surpass 6000 million units (MUs) of power generation, 53 days ahead of the close of the financial year.
Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, Director (Electrical) R P Singh said the feat was achieved on February two besides odds like adverse hydrology, flash floods and high-silt contents.
Besides benefiting the beneficiaries and the country as a whole, this will bring higher revenues to its equity partner, Himachal Pradesh Government, which gets 12 per cent free power and 22 per cent power on account of their energy share, he said.
Mr Singh said the power generation at Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station during the last financial year was 5,941 MUs and during the current year it has already surpassed 6,000 MUs with 53 days of the current financial year yet to go.
The power generation during the current period has also surpassed the MoU targets entered with the Ministry of Power.
