Efforts to solve commuting problem in Delhi on: Sheila

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her Government is keen to intensify efforts to provide a safe, reliable, fast and modern Public Transport System to overcome all commuting problems.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone of a Community Centre-cum- Library near Safdarjung Enclave, the Chief Minister said the Government had introduced good quality low floor buses in Delhi as part of its efforts to provide a modern public transport system.

The number of such buses is being increased in phases. With addition of 2000 such buses in the DTC fleet, there would be a visible change in the public transport scenario in the city which would provide much needed relief to the passengers.

In this context, she said, the city-Government had almost completed work relating to a signal-free Ring Road. A similar plan was being executed for the Outer Ring Road.

The city-government would also commission Community Centres, Library, Recreation Centres, Playgrounds, Parks to turn Delhi into a World-class city.

The function was presided over by local MLA Kiran Walia.
