Disaster Management System in place for monsoon: BMC

Mumbai, Feb 8 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation is all prepared to face the monsoon this year and has the disaster management system ready, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said here today.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Gajbeye said the State Government had ordered the corporation to take stock of the system and upgrade its disaster management cell to tackle the monsoon.

''We have updated the cell and submitted the report to the State Government and we will be constructing four cyclone shelter homes in the city, the places for which will be identified soon and the same will be constructed this year,'' Mr Gajbeye said.

Mr Gajbeye further added that the corporation has also updated the communication tools that was provided by the State Government and will be used in the disaster management cell.
