CRPF jawan, MCC ultra killed; 4 injured in encounter

Giridih, Feb 8 (UNI) A CRPF jawan and one MCC ultra were killed and four injured in an encounter with the banned outfit near Madhuban forest adjoining Parasnath Pahar, about 31 km from the district headquarters today.

Two Maoist Communist Centre ultras were also nabbed during the encounter that began at 0700 hrs.

Two police officers and many jawans were also injured in the process.

According to latest information, the first encounter that began this morning continued for an hour.

''After security forces were deployed in the area, another encounter began at about 1500 hours and that is still continuing,'' Deputy Commissioner Virender Ram said.

So far five different encounters have taken place, police said.

Superintendent of Police M Meena was leading the forces while the Hazaribagh SP also rushed to the spot with reinforcements.

The DC said the number of casualties might go up.
