3 MNS leaders get bail
Mumbai, Feb 8 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to three senior leaders of Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) arrested for their alleged involvement in unleashing violence against North Indians in the city.
Party general secretaries Nitin Sardesai and Pravin Darekar, and student wing leader Aditya Shirodkar, were taken into custody yesterday.
They were produced before Additional Chief Metropolitian Magistrate A Agarwal of Bhoiwada court, who granted them bail of Rs 3,000 each with a liberty to furnish the surety of the same amount.
Heavy security arrangements were made at the court where a large number of MNS activists were present inside and outside the court room.
The trio were booked under section 153 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which is a non-bailable offence but, the power is exercised on the court to grant the bail after considering the material available against them.
