UP Cong chief's stinging rebuttal of Maya's charges on security
Lucknow, Feb 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi today delivered a stinging rebuttal of Chief Minister Mayawati's charges against the Centre about threat on her life.
''When 1 lakh policemen of the state could not protect the CM, then what would be the fate of my life, who had been denied even one security personnel,'' she underlined.
Addressing a press conference here, Ms Joshi said fighting against corruption and mafia rule in the state had created threat on her life, while the CM is being protected by the entire state police.
''Even after repeated requests, the state government has refused to give one policeman for my security,'' she lamented.
Reacting to Mayawati's allegations against the Centre for not providing her SPG cover, the UP Congress president said ''when the state CM was only bothered about her security, then what will happen to the common people''.
She also claimed that the law and order situation in UP has deteriorated in the present BSP regime and now, even the ministers and legislators of the ruling party were involved in the unlawful incidents.
Meanwhile, condemning the campaign of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) supporters in Maharastra against the North Indians, Ms Joshi said such things cannot be tolerated in a democratic country like ours.
She also criticised the alleged statement of the Lt Governor of Delhi, in which he had reportedly criticised North Indian people.
