State women's front conference on Feb 23

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 7 (UNI) Five lakh women from all parts of Tamil Nadu will paricipate the first State women's front conference, which to be held here on February 23, State Convening Secretary Christi Swamy said.

Addressing a press conference here today, she said the conference would sensitise women about their basic needs, their immense power and channelise their dynamism and strength to achieve the goals.

State Government Special Commissioner Employment and Training P Sivakami said the aim of the conference was to chalkout an action plan to empower women to become vibrant participants in the process of decision making and governance to make their own destiny and promote development of society with a human face.

The conference would demand ownership land for agriculture dependent landless women, provision of basic amenities and facilities in all houses in rural areas, housing for poor families with housing land documents in the women's name, equal and standard education for all, employment to an educated woman in each family and quality medical facilities for poor women, she added.
