Pakistan Army Chief issues new order

Islamabad, Feb 7: Pakistani Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has issued an order that clearly mentions ''priorities of armed forces'' and ''methods for their implementation'' in true letter and spirit.

Gen Kiyani became army chief after his predecessor Pervez Musharraf handed over command of the 500,000-strong nuclear-armed land forces to him in November last year. The COAS has made the enforcement of the directive ''compulsory,'' asserting that the directive would cover not only present circumstances that undermined the army's morale but also cover factors that damaged armed forces respect and standard deliberately or undeliberately, The Nation newspaper reported today.

The directive maintained that purpose of issuing the order is to elaborate the priorities of the army and reinforce unity of the command. He further said implementation of his orders in this context should be made a top priority.
