MCA-21, Rlys, SAIL bag e-gov gold award

Panchkula, Feb 7: MCA-21, Indian Railways, Tele-Bhugtan collectorate, Jabalpur (MP), SAIL, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Tamil Nadu and Haryana today bagged the gold medals in various categories of National awards for their outstanding performnce in e-governance.

Union Minister of Information Technology and Communication A Raja today conferred the awards on the recipients at the inaugural function of the 11th National Conference on e-governance which began here. MCA-21, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India got the gold in the Excellence in Government Process Re-Engineering category.

In appreciation of their efforts for conducting hassle-free and transparent admission, the Haryana Government and NIC have been conferred the gold in Exemplary Horizontal Transfer of ICT-based Best Practice category for its 'Integrated Workflow System for Paperless Admission.

In the Outstanding Performance in Citizen-Centric Service Delivery Category, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation got the gold award for its Internet Ticketing Project while in the Exemplary Usage of ICT by PSUs category, the winner of gold was Electronic Procurement System, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant, Orissa.

In the Best Government Website category, the gold award went to Tamil Nadu Government for its www.tn.gov.in website. In the Best Government Website category silver went to Chandigarh Administration for its www.chandigarh.gov.in site and bronze to Department of Rural Development, Andhra Pradesh Government for its website.

In the Special Sectoral Award Focus Sector Agriculture category gold award had been given to Grapenet agriculture and Food product export dev. autority, Ministry of Commerce and Industry while Haryana won the silver in this category for Mustard Procurement Management System. The award had been bagged by District Administration, Rohtak, Haryana jointly with Soochana-Se-Samadan, Indian Society of Agri-Business Professional, Delhi.

ELECON, Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar and NIC got the silver award in Exemplary Horizontal Transfer of ICT-based Best Practice Category. Commercial Taxes Department, Karnataka Government and NIC bagged the bronze award in this category for its VATsoft-VAT processing system. Finance Department of Gujarat Government bagged the silver for its Vat Information System in the Excellence in Government Process Re-Engineering.

The silver award in Citizen-Centric Service Delivery Category, was jointly bagged by Karnataka Government for Nemmadi, e-Governance Sectt and Directorate of Income Tax (System) Union Government for its e-filling of Income Tax Returns. The bronze award has gone to City Civic Centre, Surat Municipal Corporation, Gujarat.

In the Innovative Usage of Technology in e-governance category, the winners of silver and bronze awards were Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Web-Based Project Management System, Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation respectively.

In the Exemplary Usage of ICT by PSUs category, silver award went to Reverse e-auction for Transportation Contract Vishakapatnam Steel Plant while the bronze category was bagged jointly by In-house development of web-based inspection call management system, Power Grid Corporation of India and Business Community, Indian Oil Corporation.

In this category special mention was made to Webel Mediatronics, West Bengal for its Application for Education and Communication of children affected with Cerebral Palsy.
