The CHD, a subordinate office of the HRD Ministry had set up its regional centre at Guwahati to propagate Hindi as a link language.

The KHS, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry, was assigned to improve the standards of teaching of Hindi at various levels in the region and it would conduct Hindi Language Teaching and Training Programmes by applying the latest methodologies of language learning and teaching, the sources said.

It has established centres at Guwahati, Shillong and Dimapur for NE states, which would publicise short-term courses for imparting knowledge of Modem Methodologies of Language Teaching to the in-service Hindi teachers and workers of voluntary organisations engaged in propagation of Hindi and Hindi teaching and training.
