Freedom fighter and former MP Ramrao Awargaonkar dead at 79
Beed, Maharashtra, Feb 7 (UNI) Former MP and senior freedom fighter Ramrao Awargaonkar passed away at Aurangabad today. He was 79.
Ramrao was born on August 3, 1929 in Awargaon village of Beed district.
He had participated in the Hyderabad Mukti Sangram in 1947-48 and the Goa Mukti Sangram in the year 1955.
He was a member of the Hyderabad Assembly from 1952 to 1957. He was the first president of the Beed District Local Board (1958-62) and was the first person from Beed to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha from 1974 to 80.
Ramrao had worked extensively in the social and educational fields and was founder member of the Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal.
