Cold wave claims two lives in Gujarat

Rajkot, Feb 7 (UNI) The severe cold wave has claimed two lives in Gujarat's Junagadh district.

The deaths were reported one each from Talala and Kodinar. Both the deceased were shelterless beggars, police said.

40-years-old Talala victim's body was found on the banks of the Hiren river, police said. The Talala Manav Satsang organisation members performed the last rites as the body was unclaimed.

The Kodinar victim was aged around 35 and was found dead near the Somnath Temple. The last rites were performed by members of the Guru Nanak Mandal.

Meanwhile, two Gujarati film actress -- Komal Thakkar and Hina Rajput -- have fallen ill due to the severe cold. The two were shooting for a film ''Samarpan'' at the Navi Bandar sea shore, about ten km from Porbandar, yesterday when they took ill and had to be admitted to a private hospital.

Cold wave is also sweeping the Saurashtra and Kutch regions. Nalia in Kutch district recorded a minimum temperature 8.3 degrees Celsius today, Rajkot 8.3 and Junagadh recorded a minimum temperature of 10.2 degrees.
