Melbourne, Feb 7 : Britney Spears' parents have released a joint statement saying that they fear their famous daughter is putting her life at risk.

The couple released the statement hours after they learnt that Britney had garnered her release a week early from the UCLA Medical Centre against their wishes, and the wishes of her treating psychiatrist.

"As parents of an adult child in the throws of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe," New.com.au quoted the statement, as stating.

"We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk.

"There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

Britney's decision to leave the hospital came a day after it court papers released showed that the singer's mother Lynne had claimed that her pal Sam Lutfi had drugged her in a bid to take control of her life.

Britney's dad Jamie, and lawyer Andrew Wallete have been granted temporary control of her assets, including her house, pending further legal proceedings.
