Anti-privatisation committee calls for Punjab bandh on Feb 19
Jalandhar, Feb 7 (UNI) The Anti-Privatisation Co-ordination Committee, comprising of 17 organisations of workers, including agricultural workers and peasants, decided to implement the call of February 19 Punjab bandh with full force.
Kirti Kisan Union president Hardev Singh Sandhu in a press note issued here stated that the committee, in a meeting held here today, decided to organise meetings till February 11 in all the districts, to make detailed programmes for effective implemention of the bandh call.
It was also decided that bandh would be implemented with the consent of the people, he said adding that committee had also appealed to the mass organisation of peasants, workers and agriculture workers, who are not part of the committee, to join this joint struggle.
The meeting in a resolution condemned the privatisation of ITIs at Barnala, Manuke, Patiala and Hoshiarpur and decided to stop this privatisation by direct action, he said.
Mr Sandhu said it was also condemned the partly indirect privatisation of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) by giving contract to a private company for distribution of bills and demanded to stop this immidiately.
