Adopt energy efficient processes: Barnala
Chennai, Feb 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today said adoption of energy efficient processes and use of 'economic equipment' are necessary for energy conservation.
In his address at the inauguration of the Energy Saving Commission meet here, the Governor said India was endowed with abundant natural resources. Proper utilisation of solar, wind, hydel and tidal energy would help to reduce green house gas emmission.
''It is heartening to know that five of the ten world's most energy efficient cement plants and the most energy efficient oil refinery are in India,'' he observed.
He said the World Foundrymen Organisation and the Institute of Indian Foundrymen should join hands to create awareness and need for energy conservation.
''Your collaboration with the governments and with those specialising in energy conservation would certainly help you to achieve fruitful results,'' he pointed out.
Mr Barnala said it was high-time that everyone formulate plans to generate more and more 'green energy' from renewable sources such as hydel, solar and wind energy and energy from bio-fuels and create mass awarness on energy saving starting from individuals to companies and industries at large.
