A P J Abdul Kalam arrives here on a two-day visit to Bihar

Patna, Feb 7 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam arrived here today on a two-day visit.

On his arrival from New Delhi, Dr Kalam drove straight to Raj Bhavan from the airport for a night halt.

Tomorrow morning the former President would leave for the historical sites of Rajgir and Nalanda in south Bihar to preside over all important first Board meeting of the proposed Nalanda International University as its ''Visitor'' along with a galaxy of other world renowned academics to finalise its various courses, official sources informed.

The Bihar government had so far allocated Rs two crore from its own sources for the establishment of the university by next year on line with the one that existed at the same place about five centuries ago.

From Nalanda, Dr Kalam would go to Paligang, about 40 km from here, to see the performance of the state farmers' cooperative, which was inaugurated by him a few years ago as the country's first citizen.

Soon after his return to Patna the same evening, Dr Kalam would address a gathering of eminent citizens here before taking the flight back to New Delhi.

Among others Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi and Chairman State Planning Board N K Singh would be present, the sources added.
