Woman gives birth in police vehicle while being evacuated
Srinagar, Feb 6 (UNI) A woman in Pahalgam gave birth in a Police Gypsy when she was being evacuated to hospital at Ashmuqam in south Kashmir, after around five feet of snow blocked the road.
According to Station House Office (SHO) Pahalgam said in charge of a hospital in Anantnag Dr Zahoor Ahmad called up the Police station and sought their help in evacuating a woman identified as Jameela (26), a resident of Grend Pahalgam, who was in severe labour pain.
The woman had been stranded on way to hospital as around five feet of snow had blocked the Pahalgam road, he added.
He said on this information, a Police Party risking their own lives attempted to shift the woman to Ashmuqam Hospital, despite continuous snowfall.
However, the woman gave birth to a girl in police Gypsy on way to hospital, who were shifted to hospital where Doctors declared both mother and baby safe, he disclosed.
DIG Anantnag, Hemant Kumar Lohia has sanctioned cash reward for the brave police party that saved innocent lives despite adversity.
