Tripura CPI(M) lashes out at Chavan for accusing Karat
Agartala, Feb 6 (UNI) The Tripura CPI(M) today lashed out at Minister of State at Prime Ministers' Office and AICC observer in Tripura Prithviraj Chavan for criticising CPI(M) Chief Prakash Karat during an election rally here on Sunday.
Addressing the media here today, CPI(M) spokesperson Gautam Das said the speech of Prakash Karat was distorted by a section of media, based on which Mr Chavan accused Mr Karat of derogatory remarks against former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi without knowing the facts and history of Tripura.
He criticised Mr Chavan saying being a responsible central minister he should have been cautious and denied the reports had made against Mr Gandhi.
He further alleged that the Congress was responsible for under- development of NE, including Tripura.
Mr Chavan yesterday threatened to file a complaint against Mr Karat to the Election Commission for the remark against Mr Gandhi that he had allegedly patronised insurgency to oust Left Front Tripura in 1988.
