Agartala, Feb 06: He seems to have stuck to the ideologies of Communist party, that considers accumulation of personal wealth as sin.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who is going to complete his second term after a month, is believed to have cash property of just Rs 13,920.38 in two nationalised banks here.

According to state election panel, Mr Sarkar revealed his property details under the statutory provision of property statement in Peoples' Representation Act while filing nomination for Dhanpur constituency in West Tripura, close to Indo-Bangladesh border, last week.

Mr Sarkar revealed that he had Rs 8992.38 and Rs 4928 in SBI Agartala branch and UCO Bank Agartala respectively and no immovable property accounted in his favour as on the date.

His property statement has been appreciated by the Opposition parties.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Samir Ranjan Barman said, ''Manik Sarkar is an honest man but his cabinet colleagues and party cadres were most corrupt and have set a record of corruption before the nation.''
