Tata to manufacture components for Boeing Dreamliner

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) TAL Manufacturing Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, has entered into an agreement with US aviation giant Boeing to manufacture structural components for its 787 Dreamliners.

Under the agreement, TAL will build floor beams for the 787, using new technologies with advanced titanium and composite materials.

The beams will be used on the Dreamliner and provide for the best solution and significant weight savings, a joint press release said today.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The beams will be produced at TAL's new facility in Nagpur, and then transported to Boeing partners in Japan, Italy and the US for further assembly.

''Boeing is proud to welcome Tata into its family of world-class aerospace suppliers and we are confident that this partnership will help Boeing and Tata leverage mutual best-value capabilities,'' Boeing Vice-President Carolyn Corvi said.

TAL Managing Director A P Arya said, ''We believe this agreement has the potential to develop into a more broad-based alliance that would enable both organisations to use the best and most competitive resources within themselves and thereby offer greater value to customers.'' Mr Arya said the agreement will be a turning point for the Indian manufacturing industry to gain a foothold in the global aerospace business.
