Schools in Chamba closed for three days

Shimla, Feb 6 (UNI) The Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh today announced the closure of all schools following heavy snowfall in the entire district since last night.

The schools have been closed following remote Pangi, Bharmaur areas and other higher altitude of the district experiencing the heaviest snowfall of this winter season, an official spokesman said.

He said the decision has been taken after experiencing heavy snowfall and following a forcast by the met office, which said isolated places in the state would experience heavy rains and snow during the next three days.

The district administration also advised the residents to remain indoors during the period since there was a threat of glaciers and avalanches, he added.
