Neonatal ICU inaugrated at Command Hospital
Chandigarh, Feb 6 (UNI) A state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was today inaugurated at the Western Command Hospital in Chandimandir.
Ms Bina Aul, Officiating President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) while inaugurating the NICU said that Unit would go a long way in preventing developmental problems in neonates and in reducing the neonatal mortality rate. The NICU would have an expert neonatalogist, pediatricians, nursing and para-medical staff.
Although the mortality rate at the Command Hospital is six per 1,000 live births as compared to the national figure of 40 per 1000 live births, this unit aims at combining a family centered supportive approach with the advances in neonatal medicine.
