Itanagar, Feb 6 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu yesterday released stipends for the students to redress their and their parents' long pending grievances.

While approving the additional allocation, despite to the tune of Rs 12.46 crore for disbursement of stipend in addition to Rs 7.65 crore released in October last, the chief minister observed that stipend is a welfare measure, which helps human resource development in the state and therefore it deserves his government's top priority, informed official sources here today.

In all, an amount of Rs 20 crore had so far been released during the current financial year to the education department to provide stipend to 57,000 students pursuing studies up to higher secondary level and 5,500 students pursuing higher and technical education.

This is for the first time in recent history of the department that the entire requisite amount of stipend has been released.

However, the chief minister cautioned all concerned to ensure that the due amount of stipend reaches each of the eligible students, sources informed.

The chief minister also hoped that the stipend money would be utilized purposefully by the students and would also serve as an instrument to promote education in the state, the sources added.
