Internet failure affectsbanking, mobile phones down in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 6 (UNI) Failure of the Internet has affected banking service in the Kashmir valley where mobile phones were also not working since this morning.
Our internet circuit leased from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been down since this morning affecting normal business badly, a SBI bank official said.
He said all on-line banks, working on BSNL leased lines could not do any business till this afternoon because of system failure.
We are trying to accommodate our customers, but we cannot help those who have accounts outside the valley, he added.
However, people alleged that they are facing problems in withdrawing and depositing money when the system is down. We cannot purchase a Demand Draft, they said.
Similar situation was witnessed in other banks also.
However, majority of Jammu and Kashmir banks, who are working through their own system were working properly. But those working on leased BSNL lines could not do any business, they said.
The BSNL mobile phone system was also down since this morning till this afternoon. We are not getting any phone number from our mobile because of system failure, the customers said alleging that no reason was given by the BSNL authorities about the non-functional of mobile phone.
Failure of BSNL and private internet has also affected students, businessmen, media persons and national news agencies.
