Forward Bloc-sponsored 24-hour "Bangla Bandh" reduced to 12 hours

Kolkata, Feb 6 (UNI) Forward Bloc State Secretary Ashok Ghosh today withdrew the party-sponsored 24-hour ''Bangla Bandh'', reducing it to 12 hours.

Addressing a press meet here, Mr Ghosh said, '' Considering the inconveniencies suffered by the stranded passengers all over the state, we have reduced the bandh duration to 12 hours from 24 hours. '' The bandh, which started at 0600 hours this morning, would end at 1800 hours instead of 0600 hours tomorrow morning.

The bandh was called to protest yesterday's incident at Dinhata in Cooch Behar district in which six people, including a policeman, were killed and several injured.
