Fire breaks out at Oil tank farm at Kandla
Kandla, Feb 6 (UNI) A major fire broke out in an oil tank at Kandla Port here today, engulfing the entire tank.
According to Kandla port sources, the roof of a section of oil tank farm ''Kesar'' was blown off, falling on a nearby tank, containing a chemical 'methanol', and it caught fire at 1100 hours.
By the time fire fighters controlled the blaze the tank with 500 tons of the chemical was totally gutted, causing damage worth lakhs of rupees.
No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the inferno was being ascertained.
Police have registered a case and was investigating the matter.
