Congress to felicitate Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow

Kolkata, Feb 6 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress will felicitate External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow for being conferred ''Padma Vibhushan''.

'' The Centre's decision to honour Mr Mukherjee is a right decision. Not only Bengal but the entire country feels proud of his long contribution in different fields, '' party's working president Pradip Bhattacharjee told newspersons here today.

Referring to Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's criticism of the decision to honour Mr Mukherjee, he said, '' Earlier former West Bengal Chief Minister Bidhan Chandra Roy was conferred the highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' and Mr Hiren Mukherjee 'Padma Vibhushan' and now Mr Pranab Mukherjee has been conferred 'Padma Vibhushan'. Nothing is wrong with it. Everybody should respect the decision. '' The Congress, Rajiv Gandhi Development Institute, Bidhan Chandra Roy Memorial Trust and several other organisations would felicitate Mr Mukherjee.
