Cong to intensify agitation against LDF
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala today warned that the Congress and the other constituents of United Democratic Front (UDF) would not hesitate to intensify their agitation if the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) failed to take necessary steps to check the prices of essential commodities.
Winding up his 24-hour fast before the State Secretariat against the failure of the state government to take effective measures to check the price hike, he alleged that the government had no time to look into the problems faced by the people.
Alleging that the LDF government stood for the land mafias, real estate businessmen and rich people, he said the CPI (M) was trying to amass wealth.
Earlier, Mr Chennithala wound up his fast sipping lemon juice offered by senior Congress leader K Karunakaran, who recently returned to the Congress party from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Mr Karunakaran and Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy also spoke on the occasion.
Mr Chennithala observed the 24-hour hunger strike in front of the State Secretariat against the increasing price hike of essential commodities and also as part of intensifying the party's agitation against the CPI(M) led Left Democratic Front Government.
