AIFB condemns police firing, bandh grand success

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has condemned the brutal police firing which took place yesterday against the Forward Bloc activists at Dinhatta, Cooch Behar in West Bengal in which four people died and over a dozen were seriously injured and hundreds of them were hospitalised.

A press statement issued here today said the police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) fired against the rally activists without any provocation.

The AIFB has organised mass rallies in front of Sub Divisional offices throughout the state against the setting up of Special Export Zones (SEZs) and for issuing Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards to all genuine families, implementing the National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (NREGA) and Sachar Committee Report properly and for rehabilitating all affected people.

The AIFB demands a judicial inquiry on the firing and urges upon the Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and the Left Front Chairman to condemn the incident.

The party also organised a state bandh today in protest against the brutal killing of its party activists by police. The bandh was supported by the All India Trinamool Congress and the Congress party.

The party claimed that today's bandh was a grand success.
