2 yrs' imprisonment for rape

Tikamgarh, MP, Feb 6 (UNI) A special court here today sentenced army Colonel Parwinder Singh Ahluwalia to two years' imprisonment and fined him Rs 25,000 on the charge of raping an Indian Airlines Assistant General Manager.

According to prosecution, Parwinder, posted at the Central Works Department in Jhansi, had earlier duped the victim of Rs 60,000 on the promise of providing job to her brother in army.

On her demand for returning the amount, the accused took the woman to Orchha, a tourist spot here on March 13, 1999, and sexually assaulted her.

She lodged a complaint in this regard at Orchha police station.

Special Justice R N Patel delivered the verdict.
