Trinamool to support FB-called 24-hour "Bangla Bandh"

Kolkata, Feb 5 (UNI) Describing as ''inhuman'' the police firing at Dinhata in Cooch Behar in which four people were killed, the Trinamool Congress has supported the Forward Bloc (FB) -sponsored 24-hour ''Bangla Bandh'' tomorrow.

'' It is truly shameful that there is no democratic environment and law and order in West Bengal. I have already talked to Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh and expressed my moral support to the bandh, '' Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee told newspersons here today.

'' The CPI(M) is dangerous and does not care the people. It does not even spare its own partners, and policemen have been made CPI(M)- oriented and party's card holders, '' she stated.

'' We feel there is no need of the Trinamool Congress workers to hit the streets in favour of the bandh. We will extend support in whatever way possible, '' she said.

Ms Banerjee made it clear that she was not against Left politics, but against the CPI(M), and it was necessary that all political parties to be united.

Not only the Trinamool Congress, the Progressive Democratic Secular Front and the Krishi Jamin-O-Raksha Committee would also support the bandh, she added.
