Save Delhi from sealing, demolition: Traders to BJP, DPCC

New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) today urged both the BJP and the Congress to rise above partisan politics and stop the ongoing war of words over the Centre's direction on sealing and demolition drive in Delhi.

CAIT also urged the two political parties to come together in larger interest of Delhi and unitedly work towards bringing about relief to the people of the National capital from the sealing and demolition drive.

In a statement here, CAIT said the business instability prevailing in Delhi over the past two years had rendered the traders without livelihood.

''They have been subjected to serious violations of human rights and the law of natural justice.'' Under such circumstances, CAIT appealed to both the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) and the BJP to make joint efforts in ensuring time-bound implementation of the 2021 Master Plan.

Besides, all those areas which did not get any relief from the Master Plan or other laws should also be brought under its ambit, it demanded.

CAIT further said in view of the ground realities of Delhi's Business Distribution System and the growing population, priority should be given to the proposed zonal plan and the area plan.

The traders called for setting up a joint task force of all the departments concerned in this regard. ''It is equally important to form a special cell to monitor the implementation of the Master Plan in the DDA and the MCD,'' they added.

The traders expressed hopes that all the political parties would not resort to allegations and counter-allegations and jointly work towards ''saving'' Delhi from sealing and demolition.
