No planned targeting of Indian students in US: Owen
Indore, Feb 5 (UNI) United States Consul General Michael S Owen today said that recent isolated murders of Indian students in the US should not be construed as planned targeting of students from this country.
''Both countries' students are studying in one another's countries and the number is increasing. The recent murders were unfortunate. We are arranging for complete security in educational institutions,'' he told reporters here. Mr Owen was in town in connection with a programme for encouraging Indian youth to study in the US.
On the daily increasing difficulties in obtaining visas, the diplomat said that efforts were underway to ensure that desirous people were not subjected to long waits.
''Facilities -- for those appearing for interviews -- are being bettered,'' he added.
