Congress to file complaint against CPI(M)
Agartala, Feb 5 (UNI) The Congress will submit a complaint to the Election Commission against Left Front General Secretary Prakash Karat's recent comment on former prime minister the late Rajiv Gandhi.
After arriving at Agartala, AICC General Secretary and Union minister Prithvi Raj Chavan today met senior party leaders and discussed the recent political developments.
''A few days back, the ruling Left Front had organised an election rally, where the party's general secretary used certain objectionable words to describe our departed leader Rajiv Gandhi,'' he said.
Condemning Mr Karat's statement, he said the party was always in favour of peace and its leaders had no annexation with any militant groups.
''Rajivjee dedicated his life for the peace of the nation and in the process several decadent groups came into the mainstream,'' he said.
The party will realise their common minimum program very soon in consultation with all alliance partners.
Attacking the Left Front government, he said, ''They are playing a negative role in the UPA-sponsored development works in the state.'' The alliance partners of Congress have their own agenda, so their senior leaders will prepare their own common minimum program,'' he said, adding the people of the state were desperate for a change in the government in the state.
