Case registered against Federation Secy on cop's complaint

Puducherry, Feb 5 (UNI) Police today registered a case against Federation for People's Rights Secretary G Sugumaran on a complaint of a Police officer.

According to police sources, as many as 16 persons sustained injuries in the lathicharge last week at Villianur when councillors and others attempted to picket the residence of Independent Legislator N I T Narayansamy.

Even as SI Pazhanivel of the Mettuppalayam Police Station was conducting an inquiry with the injured at the General hospital here, Mr Sugumaran entered into an argument with him resulting in a wordy duel.

The the Sub-Inspector (SI) reportedly used harsh words against him following which Mr Sugumaran ledged a complaint against the SI at the Grand Bazaar Police Station besides sending a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (North) seeking action against Mr Pazhanivel.

Meanwhile, Mr Pazhanivel lodged a complaint with the Grand Bazaar Police saying Mr Sugumaran prevented him from performing his official duties.

Following this, cases under Section 353 and 506(1) of the Indian Penal Court (IPC) were registered against Mr Sugumaran.
