BJP condemns violence in Mumbai, retaliation in Ranchi
New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) Condemning the violence by Maharashtra Navnirman Samity against North Indian community in Mumbai and its retaliation against Marathi community in Ranchi, the BJP today said the citizens were free to reside and work in any part of the country without restrictions.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said if any group is working against the spirit of the Constitution then the respective Governments should act firmly and provide all protection to the people to carry out their normal activities. He Blamed Maharashtra Government for failing to nip the violence in the bud and the attacks against Hindi speaking populations, particularly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
He blamed the economic policies of the Congress government that forced rural people to resort to migration leaving their homes and hearths for earning a better living. If the Congress Governments had adopted right economic approach when they were in power, the country would not have seen migration in the present capacity. "We condemn the violence against north Indians in Mumbai and violence against Marathi community in Ranchi", he said.
Mr Javadekar said the violence in Mumbai had no social base because a common Mumbaikar did not believe in such activities and had real cosmopolitian approach to fellow Indians for centuries. The problem appeared grave because the visual medi has been airing the scenes of attack repeatedly for days, spreading the mistaken impression about the events.
