Two killed, 26 injured in bus accident

Sindhudurg, Feb 4 (UNI) Two persons were killed and 26 others injured when a private bus hit a road-side tree and fell deep down into a gorge near village Chakewadi in the district on the Mumbai-Goa national highway today.

The bus was on its way to Goa from Mumbai, when the driver lost control over the vehicle, resulting in the accident, police said.

The two deceased have been identified as bus driver Sodu Rajesh Sheikh (45) from Gulburga, Karnataka, and passenger Abdul Miyaj Jafer Sheikh (40) from Goa.

Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to various hospitals at Kankavli, Kharepatan, Goa and other places, police added.
