SP protests over Thackeray's statement; 12 held
Lucknow, Feb 4 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) activists today staged demonstrations at several places in UP, condemning Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray's objectionable statement against their senior leader Amar Singh and attack on North Indians in Mumbai.
In Allahabad, at least 12 Samajwadi Party activists had been arrested for their effort to stop Kashi Vishvnath train at Prayag station.
The party members burnt Raj Thackeray in effigy and demanded his arrest at Parivartan Chauk area here.
They also tried to disrupt the rail route by stopping Gomti express in Kanpur, police said.
