SP burns Thackeray in effigy in MP

Bhopal, Feb 4 (UNI) Condemning assaults North Indians residing in Mumbai as acts of cowardice, the state unit of Samajwadi Party (SP) burnt Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray in effigy across Madhya Pradesh today.

''Thackeray initially gave the slogan 'Mee Marathi' and is now talking of 'Mee Mumbaikar'. I appeal to this state's denizens to behave cordially with Marathis living in Madhya Pradesh,'' SP state president Narayan Tripathi said in a statement issued here.

An effigy was burnt at Roshanpura crossing in the state capital.

Similar reports were received from Indore, Satna, Jabalpur, Dewas, Ratlam and Gwalior.
