Six masked men rob Rs Two lakh from Andhra Bank in Karnataka
Bangalore, Feb 4 (UNI) In a daring daylight robbery, six masked men today robbed Rs 2.09 lakhs from Andhra Bank, Rajarajeshwari Nagar Branch in the city after assaulting the Manager and two employees.
While the branch manager Harish suffered a head injury when the robbers allegedly hit him with a revolver butt, cashier Anantapadmanabha and clerk Ms Tayamma sustained minor injuries when they were assaulted with lethal weapons, police said.
In the age group of 20 to 25 years the robbers, who were conversing in Hindi, entered the bank during lunch hour and threatened the Manager at gun point and asked him to hand over the keys of the safe. On his refusal, they hit him on the head. Then they assaulted the other two staff and snatched away the currency bundles.
As it was lunch time, most of the staff had gone out and only a few were in the bank when the incident took place.
According to sources two of the six robbers had been apprehended while police had spread a dragnet to nab the others.
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Gopal Hosur rushed to the bank for investigation. A dog squad and finger print experts were also pressed into service.
