London, Feb 4 : In a move to avoid a backlash against foreign workers, migrants in Britain will be advised how to not upset the locals. The migrants will be cautioned through council information packs not to spit in the street, grope women, drink-drive, drop litter or play loud music, under plans announced today.

These information packs planned with the help of existing migrants will also be providing tips on British "reserve" and traditions like queuing. "We have a history of welcoming people prepared to come here and work hard. It's right that we expect migrants to play by our rules. In return, we should explain what those rules are. Information packs can help ensure new arrivals avoid doing or saying things that might upset local communities," the Mirror quoted Communities Secretary Hazel Blears, as saying.

According to a study by the Commission on Integration and Cohesion, it was discovered that two-thirds of people think there are too many migrants in Britain.

It was also found in the survey that "suspicion and mistrust" was triggered by high numbers of migrant workers from Eastern Europe.

Blears is launching "conflict resolution teams" in high immigration areas owing to worries due to increasing strain on public services and the threat of disorder. Meetings will be set up between locals and migrants and information about new arrivals will also be distributed. Blears is also handing 50million pounds to councils "managing population change".
