Judicial probe ordered against Army's JAG
New Delhi, Feb 4 (UNI) The Army has ordered a judicial probe against its Judge Advocate-General (JAG), Major General Nilendra Kumar.
Army sources said the probe was ordered on the basis of the report of a one-member initial inquiry committee.
Lieutenant General Gautam Dutta would head the probe.
The sources said the court of inquiry would reportedly probe allegations of professional irregularities against Maj Gen Kumar.
When contacted, Maj Gen Kumar denied any knowledge of such a probe.
However, sources close to him said elements who were jealous of his legal expertise and growing stature were behind the development.
''There is no harm if Maj Gen Kumar is a member of both the Delhi Bar Council and the Supreme Court...there is also nothing wrong if his identity cards of the councils bear his pictures in army uniform,'' they said.
He had authored more than ten books on law and a recently published book from Oxford contained a special mention of him which led to envy in certan elements, they added.
