HC directs CIP to file progress report on vacant posts
Ranchi, Feb 4 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today directed the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) to file a progress report and steps taken by it regarding the filling of vacant posts at the institute.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice D.G.R. Patnaik passed the order while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Jharkhand Hill Resources Development Society, an ngo.
As per following an earlier order, the Director General of Health of the Union Government had informed the court that about 98 posts were lying vacant out of total 698 posts in the institute.
The DG had pleaded for six months time for the appointment of staff on the vacant posts.
Dissatisfied with the report, the court directed the institute to file the progress report and steps taken in connection with the filling of the remaining vacant posts by May 5 this year.
The writ petition was seeking for the betterment of the condition of the institute.
