Govt doctors in Kendrapada resign enmass

Kendrapada, Feb 04 (UNI) Altogether 52 government doctors in the district under the banner of the Orissa Medical Services Association (OMSA) today submitted their resignation to protest the "apathy" of the Orissa Government to fulfill their legitimate demands.

The OMSA had given one month notice to the State Government to look into the demands of the doctors.

The demands included among other things payment of salaries at par with their counterparts in neighbouring states, time bound promotions, transparency in transfer policy, security to doctors from public atrocity and hike in specialist allowance.

OSMA District branch secretary A G Mohanty said if the government failed to concede the demands, all the resignations collected by OMSA would be submitted before the state government.

He also made it clear that the government would be held responsible for any inconvenience caused to public in the wake of mass resignation.
