Five masked men rob Rs 5 lakh from Andhra Bank
Bangalore, Feb 4 (UNI) In a daring day-light robbery, five masked men have robbed Rs Five lakhs from Andhra Bank, Rajarajeshwari Nagar Branch here today after assaulting Manager and another employee.
Police said that the culprits, in the age group of 20 to 25 and conversing in Hindi, entered the bank during lunch hour and threatened the Manager to hand over the keys of the safe. When the Manager refused he was assaulted with lethal weapon to part with the cash.
Meanwhile, one employee, who returned after launch, was also assaulted by the culprits injuring him on his right hand.
Since it was lunch time most of the staff had gone out and only a few were in the Bank when the incident took place.
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Gopal Hosur visited the Bank and investigating. Dog Squad and Finger Print experts were pressed into service.
According to police, the exact amount robbed by the culprits was yet to be ascertained as the miscreants had taken away Rs 500 bundles.
